On page 62 of the rulebook it outlines that a spell with a ranged symbol is a ranged attack. Then in the Q&A, right column, second paragraph under magic it states

"ranged and melee attack spells are those spells that have a ranged or melee icon in their range. These spells follow the rules for that type of attack and receive any bonuses or penalties associated with that type of attack. Spells without ranged or melee icons ignore any restrictions or benefits that would apply to those types of attacks."

@Kyle: Good observation, the only difference being that ranged spells can be used on opponents in close combat, whereas ranged weapons strikes cannot (also according to page 62) This makes spellcasters much more dangerous in close combat.

Also a great set that is being released next month with the malifaux expansion. This will really be nice and allow us to play the game on the type of terrain it was intended for.

@ Mark - do you know if you'll be carrying this?

Yes we are gonna get it. Our regular sales rep has been on vacation the last week, so i wasn't able to get any info on when those terrain sets are due.

I shoudl more info next week...in the meantime please PM me what kind of qty of these people are interested in. I expect this to be something that could be in short supply. I would hate to get 2 of each when 8 people each wanted a set.

Thanks in advance

In reference to killing your own guys...

I'm working up my gremlin crew and basically the only way for it to work is killing off gremlins/pigs to summon more gremlins/pigs/mosquito. Also a viable strategy would be for me to use blast templates on my own guys to hit high Df targets. I can see why for some factions that wouldn't work, but the gremlins are very good at cycling though models.

I haven't had enough time to play yet, but i do know gremlins are not the best starter army. I still love the models and wouldn't change, but basically... they can't much handle pandora, (due to their useless will) or other high Df models.

I'm very excited to play, and I think it is a wonderfully put together game. Its great that fantasy has it in stock.

One thing I like about the game is how it self balances really well. Kyle and I had a game today where I outnumbered him nearly 2 to 1. There was a big concern that would make things too difficult. But it seems that everything is costed such that it's really hard to just get your ass handed to you. We ended up drawing and we both played really well. Just another positive that I've noticed.

I completely agree with you on this Kevin. I had a game last night against a friend up in St. Joe and I was using my ultra cheesy doppleganger hag candy list, basically with 4 obeys going off every turn; versus his Guild list. At first he felt the game was going to be completely over then on turn 5 he was able to get his triggers off and level almost my entire army. The game ended with him winning on turn 7 even though turns 1-5 he was the complete underdog talking about how insanely overpowered my list was.

I freaking loved how things can happen like that and the game can sway so drastically in one turn, yet overall there's so much control to it.
